The end of financial year brings changes that employers need to be aware of, and employers should check they have complied with any changes that affect them.
Our previous article explained the changes to the national minimum wage and modern awards that applied from the first full pay period starting on or after 1 July 2025.
Some other changes that employers should be aware of are:
- Special increases to rates in the Pharmacy Industry Award, explained here.
- The superannuation (super) guarantee increased to 12% from 1 July 2025, explained here.
- The amount of Parental Leave Pay for eligible employees increased from 1 July 2025, explained here.
- The high-income threshold for unfair dismissal applications and for contractors challenging unfair deactivations increased from 1 July 2025 to $183,100.
- Right to disconnect laws apply to small business from Tuesday 26 August 2025. These laws already apply to other businesses as explained here.
